I think my treadmill is on its last leg.
We bought it used almost 2,000 miles ago.
The liner under the belt is starting to unravel. It is coming off in big chunks that look like dust. It almost looks like I don’t use my treadmill or am bad at cleaning my house.
Every time I step on it, the treadmill growls. Seriously, I didn’t gain that much weight over the holidays!
Now I have to hang on to the hand rails when I run because sometimes it stops without warning or catches which might propel me into a wall.
Hey, at least it didn’t start to smoke!
So, I am faced with having to buy a new treadmill or join a gym.
If I join the gym I would actually have to drive a half an hour, share machines with strangers, and shave once in awhile.
But I could bike and swim in the winter. It has been hard to train outside when the lakes are frozen and the roads are icy.
Plus, it would get rid of an ugly piece of furniture(?) in my small house.
There are so many pros and cons to each scenario. I liked having a gym membership, but found it harder to make it work out with my busy schedule.
What do you do to make training easier over the winter??
Hello! I recently joined a gym for the classes. It’s packed right now with New Year’s resolution folks but they will clear out in about a month. The inconvenience of driving to the gym is worth it to me- whatever keeps you regularly working out a few days a week is important as we get into our 40’s and beyond. If your gym has a month to month membership, just plan to cancel when the weather gets nicer. And this time of the year, you can usually find good deals!

Thanks! We are leaning towards getting a gym membership too. It will be much easier swimming in a pool than jumping into a frozen lake. Lol. Okay, I’m not that crazy! I really need to train on the bike and in the water versus running anyway. Plus I can get a family membership so the whole family can join in on the fun. Fun, fun, fun, fun, I’m crazy, fun, fun, fun! Better go shave my legs. 😂 Best wishes on your fitness goals!

Lol. I just joined the gym today. I had to make sure I didn’t sing while running. Lol. My husband has it worse, he had to buy shoes. Lol. He was a barefoot runner for awhile then got minimalist shoes. Guess that is not the in thing anymore. So he actually had to buy regular shoes. I should write about that whole adventure some time. It is pretty funny. 😂

Write about the shoes! It will be a welcome relief from the stuff that’s been going on in D.C.- just over the bridge from us here.
